Ross Douthat shreds the totems of sexual liberation

I’m convinced that The New York Times didn’t know what they were getting into when they brought Ross Douthat on as a columnist. He writes in a way that is deeply subversive to the values of sexual liberation. And you have to wonder if it troubles the editors to be standing so close to the woodchipper when Douthat shreds the totems of liberal orthodoxy like he did in his article yesterday, “There is No Pro-Life Case For Planned Parenthood.” In his essay, Douthat exposes the absurdity of the claim that Planned Parenthood’s abortion mills actually reduce the number of abortions in this country. You should read the whole thing, but…

Robbie George on Democrats and Planned Parenthood

After the Senate failed to defund Planned Parenthood, Robbie George explained why he had to leave the Democratic Party: Even after pro-abortion forces gained the upper hand in the Party in the 1970s (causing me and countless others to bolt) there remained a substantial and, for a while, far from powerless “Democrats for Life” caucus. Even as an Independent (I hadn’t yet joined the Republicans), I was proud to work for the Real Bob Casey when, as governor of Pennsylvania, he was the national leader of the pro-life Democrats. We worked with Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy, former New York Governor Hugh Carey (who had returned to the fold), liberal theologian…

The fifth undercover video of Planned Parenthood

It is hard to imagine that these undercover videos could get any worse, but they do. Each one is worse than the one before, and this fifth video is no exception. You will again see Planned Parenthood officials haggling over baby parts, admitting that they alter abortion procedures to preserve parts (which is illegal), and bragging about how much money they bring to the clinics by selling baby parts. But what makes this video worse than what came before is footage of an 18-week baby torn from his mother’s womb. As they pick through the carnage, you see that the little hand is a human hand. The little leg is…

How Planned Parenthood’s defenders in the Senate are trying to distract you

I’ve been listening to the Senate debate about defunding Planned Parenthood. Two things stand out: (1) the moral clarity of Senators arguing to defund the nation’s largest abortion provider (2) and the inane, morally retrograde defense of Planned Parenthood offered by Senators on the other side. Let’s be clear what Senators defending Planned Parenthood are arguing. They do not dispute that Planned Parenthood crushes and dismembers babies in utero and that Planned Parenthood sells their mutilated bodies to researchers. If you are waiting for them to dispute those facts, don’t hold your breath. That much is not in dispute. Their argument boils down to this—a woman’s access to “affordable healthcare”…

Dear Senator, defund Planned Parenthood now

The fourth video exposing Planned Parenthood has just been released (watch above). It is hard to believe that the revelations could get any worse, but they do. In this video, you will witness Planned Parenthood doctors picking through the mangled remains of a human baby trying to find parts to sell. You will also hear Planned Parenthood abortionists say “It’s a baby” and “Another boy!” They know what they are doing. We know what they are doing. This is the face of evil, and it has to stop. If you haven’t done so already, it is time for you to act. You need to send an email or a letter…

Dueling articles on transgender at The Public Discourse

There is an important conversation going on at The Public Discourse—two articles with dueling views on transgender. Jennifer Gruenke makes the case for a biological basis for transgender identity. Greg Brown responds with a strong counterargument exposing some critical weaknesses in Gruenke’s essay. I am with Brown on this one, and I commend his careful response to you. I would add just a few brief observations of my own about Gruenke’s article:

What did you like to do for fun as a kid?

This video above is an ad that is a punch in the mouth. It is poignant and sad. I don’t have to explain the loss that it represents. It is plain for everyone to see and an occasion for us parents to be vigilant in the formation of our children. We only get one shot, and there are no dress rehearsals.

The shocked victims of their sex lives

Just three years after Roe v. Wade passed, feminist writer Linda Bird Francke wrote about her abortion experience. Her story originally appeared under the pseudonym “Jane Doe” in The New York Times but was later published in a book of essays under her own name. Her experience and feelings afterward are still so very common today. In her own words:
