Pat Robertson has stepped in it all over again this week with his pronouncement that Ariel Sharon’s illness is a judgment from God. The Washington Post reports:
“Sharon was personally a very likable person, and I am sad to see him in this condition, but I think we need to look at the Bible and the Book of Joel. The prophet Joel makes it very clear that God has enmity against those who ‘divide my land,'” Robertson said.
Sharon was “dividing God’s land, and I would say: Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U. [European Union], the United Nations or the United States of America,” the 75-year-old Baptist minister said.
Last August Robertson recommended that the U.S. government should stage a covert action to assassinate Venezuelan president Hugo ChΓΒ‘vez, (source). Last November he suggested that disaster may strike Dover, PA because they voted God out of their city by ousting school board members who favored teaching intelligent design (source). Now he has come out with these latest remarks that actually combine the errors of his two previous gaffes.
He is doing this so often now that I don’t have time to respond to them all. For a response to this newest blunder, see my immediately preceding post and “Please Pat, We Don’t Need Anymore Help (part 1).”

Wow! What a picture! He looks frightening. He actually looks like he needs some special attention (the kind that carries one away to a little room).
