Their Blood Cries Out

I just read one of the most horrific abortion stories that I have ever seen. Here it is from the London Telegraph:

Baby boy survives for nearly two days after abortion

The 22-week infant died one day later in intensive care at a hospital in the mother’s home town of Rossano in southern Italy.

The mother, pregnant for the first time, had opted for an abortion after prenatal scans suggested that her baby was disabled.

However, the infant survived the procedure, carried out on Saturday in the Rossano Calabro hospital, and was left by doctors to die.

He was discovered alive the following day – some 20 hours after the operation – by Father Antonio Martello, the hospital chaplain, who had gone to pray beside his body.

He found that the baby, wrapped in a sheet with his umbilical cord still attached, was moving and breathing.

The priest raised the alarm and doctors immediately arranged for the infant to be taken to a specialist neo-natal unit at the neighbouring Cosenza hospital, where he died on Monday morning.

Italian police are investigating the case for “homicide” because infanticide is illegal in Italy.

It is cases like this one that reveal the morally bankrupt, pro-abortion mindset of the modern age. It’s the mindset that somehow thinks it’s okay to kill a 22-week old baby in the womb but that somehow thinks it’s immoral to let him die outside the womb. Where is the sense in that? That baby was a precious human being created in the image of God both inside his mother and outside. Those who can’t see that have seared consciences (1 Timothy 4:2).

Read the rest here, and pray for the unborn.

My soul trembles in both sorrow and wrath towards this subject. Literally, I am trembling from deep within. My heart is broken and my mind is filled with rage. Maranatha.

Subsequent articles on the same news page state that the abortion was carried out because of a cleft lip / palate. This has added to the outrage, since this condition is easily reversible / repairable with surgery.

But perhaps the outrage at this masks the reality that the vast majority of abortions are carried out for no defect / handicap at all. The woman simply does not wish to have a baby. If the true moral character of a nation is best shown in the way we treat our most vulnerable, then something very sad is said about our world today.
