Well, we thought that Texas A&M was about to be invited to join the SEC. But the SEC just made an announcement that amounts to a great big “Psyche!” I was already looking forward to the addition. The door isn’t closed yet, so you Aggies need to keep your fingers crossed. Watch the video below.
Here’s the statement released by Bernie Machen, the president of the University of Florida chair of the Southeastern Conference Presidents and Chancellors:
The SEC Presidents and Chancellors met today and reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment. We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league. We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion. No action was taken with respect to any institution including Texas A&M.
ESPN.com has a longer story here. But I suspect OutKickTheCoverage.com has the full story here. (HT: Beau Bevers).

Maybe this is just a dress rehearsal for a move in a couple of years, Denny. Would sure make Aggie sports more fun!

No offense, Denny, but if you think “ESPN.com has the whole story,” you really don’t know what you’re talking about.

Beau, I know there are conflicting reports. Click on the “statement” link above. It’s a USAToday story that talks about conflicting behind the scenes reports.

I hear ya, brother. Just know that the SEC presidents couldn’t “decline” (or “accept” for that matter) anything today without threat of a lawsuit.

Okay, Beau. That story makes me sick. I’ve updated my post with your link. Thanks!
