Senator Rubio makes pro-life case on “Meet the Press”

It is frustrating when pro-life politicians are unable to answer tough questions about abortion. There are very few who can defend the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. When asked about exceptions for rape or incest, their principles often go right out the window.

That is why Chuck Todd’s interview with Senator Marco Rubio yesterday was a stand-out appearance. Rubio was principled, compassionate, and articulate. We need more of this from pro-life politicians. The other presidential candidates need to watch the video above and take notes. This is how you do it.

Well the situation may be difficult, and the choice may not be psychologically easy for the mother. However, the answer to the moral question is in fact clear and easy. But I understand that Rubio didn’t have time to tease that distinction out.

I’m wondering if the suggestion that candidates ‘take notes’ is based on the softer sell. Rubio has made himself clear on no abortion not even for rape or incest in other interviews. But here, the topic is not ‘fleshed out’ . . . perhaps the reason for that has little to do with ‘not enough time’ and more to do with appearing to be compassionate and understanding?
