NY Times Inaccurately Reports on the Gosnell Trial

The New York Times has an astonishingly inaccurate report on the Kermit Gosnell trial. The inaccuracy begins right up front in the lede: A Pennsylvania judge on Tuesday threw out three of seven murder charges against a Philadelphia doctor charged with killing viable fetuses while performing abortions. In spite of this report, Kermit Gosnell is emphatically not on trial for “killing viable fetuses while performing abortions.” Unfortunately, it’s actually legal in the United States under Roe v. Wade to kill viable fetuses during an abortion. That is not why Kermit Gosnell is on trial.

Judge drops 3 of the 8 murder charges against Gosnell

From NBC Philadelphia: It took the prosecution five weeks to present their case against West Philly abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell and it took defense attorney Jack McMahon a couple of hours to knock a big hole through a critical part of their argument. Three first-degree murder charges were dropped against Gosnell after McMahon argued that “there is not one piece…of objective, scientific evidence that anyone was born alive” at Gosnell’s clinic.

“3801 Lancaster”: Don’t turn away from this horror

3801 Lancaster is a documentary film about Dr. Kermit Gosnell—one of the most infamous abortionists in U. S. History. Dr. Gosnell made himself a millionaire by selling abortion services to poor minority women in west Philadelphia. He not only presided over the deaths of countless unborn babies. He also oversaw a filthy clinic in which women died and in which babies were born alive and murdered. Gosnell was arrested in January 2011, and he is now in prison awaiting trial.

10 Questions a Pro-Choice Candidate Is Never Asked by the Media

The media almost always give pro-choice politicians a pass when it comes to questions about abortion. The questions that reporters ask rarely get to the heart of the issue—the humanity of the unborn. Moreover, reporters nearly always fail to ask tough follow-up questions of pro-choice politicians. This state of affairs has long been a frustration to pro-life people who are watching the media scrutiny only going towards one side. That is why I love Trevin Wax’s fantastic post over at his blog titled, “10 Questions a Pro-Choice Candidate Is Never Asked by the Media.” His list of questions includes this:

Which candidate holds extreme views on abortion?

Going into the Democratic National Convention next week, the scuttlebutt is that the President will emphasize the abortion issue and will try to paint his opponent as extreme on abortion rights. I’m wondering if this is really the conversation that President Obama wants to have. I’m no shill for Governor Romney. As I’ve said many times before, Romney’s record on this issue is not inspiring in my view. His conversion to the pro-life cause has appeared to many as a political expedient. Even now, Romney holds a less than pure pro-life position—one that is to the left of his own party’s platform. He’s hardly an extremist.

A Closer Look at Gosnell’s Horror

Our understanding of the horror that was Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic is still coming in to clear view. Today, the Associated Press reports more of the details about the findings of the grand jury that indicted Gosnell last week. One woman tells the story of how Gosnell forced her to have an abortion against her will.

Obama Misleads on His Abortion Record

In tonight’s debate, Senator Barack Obama did not tell the truth about his record on abortion. You can watch the exchange above, but the short of it is this. John McCain brought up the fact that Obama refused to support legislation to protect the lives of infants born alive after botched abortions. Obama denied it. Obama’s denial was false. I won’t rehearse all the facts here again. I simply direct you to Robert George’s essay and my previous posts on this subject. Obama’s record on abortion is abominable. He refuses to recognize the human rights of an entire class of human beings—the unborn. As far as Obama is concerned, living…

    Obama’s Glib One-Liner about Abortion

From John Fund in today’s Wall Street Journal: ‘Mr. Obama’s stand on the issue [of abortion] is significant. The federal “Born Alive Infant Protection Act” sailed through the Senate in 2001 on a vote of 98 to 0. The bill was supported by Senator Barbara Boxer, the body’s leading pro-choice spokeswoman, and was not opposed by the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League. By getting his facts wrong, Mr. Obama is now in the difficult position of trying to explain why he voted against a bill that the legislative record shows addressed infanticide rather than abortion.’ “Obama’s Abortion Position? It’s a One-liner” – by John Fund (Wall Street Journal)

Barack Obama: The Most Anti-life Candidate Ever

Today’s Wall Street Journal has an Op-Ed calling Senator Obama the most “antilife presidential candidate ever.” When you look at the reasons given for this notorious distinction, it’s hard to disagree. Here’s an excerpt. ‘According to Barack Obama, Gianna Jessen shouldn’t exist. ‘Miss Jessen is an exquisite example of what antiabortion advocates call a “survivor.” Well into her third trimester of pregnancy, Gianna’s biological mother was injected with a saline solution intended to induce a chemical abortion at a Los Angeles County abortion center. Eighteen hours later, and precious minutes before the abortionist’s arrival, Gianna emerged. Premature and with severe injuries that resulted in cerebral palsy. But alive. ‘Had the…
