Obama’s Barbaric Abortion Record Confirmed

John Fund confirms reports about Obama’s refusal to defend the right to life of babies born alive after failed abortions. Fund writes:

‘Barack Obama’s carefully sculpted image as a moderate may be showing some cracks.

‘It turns out that while in the Illinois legislature, he voted against a bill that would have defined a fully born baby who survived an abortion as a “person.” The concept isn’t that controversial even among liberal Democrats. Senator Barbara Boxer of California, the Senate’s leading pro-choice champion, urged her fellow Democrats to vote for a federal version of the same concept back in 2001, saying such a provision did not impinge on the rights enshrined in the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion. The Born Alive Infants bill eventually passed the U.S. Senate by 98 to 0.

‘But in the Illinois Senate, when Mr. Obama chaired the Health and Human Services Committee, records show a bill consisting of exactly the same language two years later was voted down by six to four. Mr. Obama was one of the legislators opposing it.

‘Mr. Obama has consistently denied the two bills were identical. During his 2004 U.S. Senate campaign, he responded to a question about the Born Alive Infants bill, saying: “At the federal level there was a similar bill that passed because it had an amendment saying this does not encroach on Roe v. Wade. I would have voted for that bill.”

‘But documents recovered from the Illinois Senate archives contradict his statement. “In essence, Obama voted to successfully amend the bill in a way Obama has said would have enabled him to support it, before he voted against it,” says columnist Amanda Carpenter of TownHall.com. The National Right to Life Committee’s Legislative Counsel Susan Muskett calls the documents a “smoking gun” that finally resolve the Obama abortion vote controversy.

‘The Obama campaign has strenuously attacked critics who bring up the “Born Alive” bill. Last June 30, Team Obama issued a statement accusing talk show host Bill Bennett of “outright false statements” for contending that Mr. Obama wouldn’t support a bill that even leading pro-choice groups declined to oppose. Here’s hoping journalists try to pin Mr. Obama down on just why he appears to be to the left of his own party on abortion.’

Obama equates babies with STD’s. They are both punishments for “mistakes”.

I’ve got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.

I’m sorry to say that we’re not likely to see Rick Warren confront Obama with this in the candidates upcoming appearance at Saddleback.

The 2008 contest, as all recent presidential elections, will be decided by an increasingly large percentage of voters who are “moderates.” It is hard to imagine what these voters need to see to delineate the stark differences between Obama & McCain. Perhaps knowledge of these types of extreme positions will be what it takes to convince many of these undecideds that BO is way too far to the left.

Only the most rabid pro-abortion voters would support such a dreadful point-of-view on life. It is imperative that we beat the drum on the radical Obama agenda before November. The mainstream media has no interest in doing so.

His views on abortion are nauseating. He is to the left of Kennedy and Boxer – that’s a hard place to get to on accident.

On a related note, McCain had better wise up and not pick a pro-choice candidate. What he will hear from the religious right is the deafening sound of chirping crickets on election day. I would be surprised if he actually went through with it (the current rumors that he might do so).

Scott, I would just be curious about which of Obama’s policies has secured your vote for him? I ask because I am simply curious and not looking for a battle here. I hear a lot about “change,” but that is getting a little worn. What has he done that makes him ready to be president? 143 days in the Senate before he started the process. I do not argue that McCain is the best by any stretch, but I am simply curious about what specifically has Obama done to win your allegiance? Just curious, and that is all.

As far as I can tell, Obama can give great speeches that are short on details, has an uberliberal voting record and is a product of the Chicago political machine. All 3 of these concern me greatly if he wins in Nov.
