UbuntuOne has had this service for long time.

Google uses Ubuntu as its internal OS therefore speculation is that this is just
redeployment of UbuntuOne on Googles network.
Do not know if this is true or not!

Microsoft offers 7 GB free on SkyDrive. Those of us who have used the service before this past week are grandfathered in for 25 GB free.

Neither Google Drive or Skydrive is fully cross-platform.
I believe that will change soon in Google ….never with Microsoft!
By this I mean no Linux client!
