Greatest Marriage Proposal Ever?

Matt Still has produced one of the most creative marriage proposals I have ever seen. It’s also the latest viral YouTube sensation making the rounds. He and his fiancée were interviewed on “The Today Show” this morning. You can watch the proposal above and then the interview below.

I’m not so impressed. The production value is impressive, to be sure. But I’m more with C.S. Lewis on this sort of thing.

“…affection would not be affection if it was loudly and frequently expressed; to produce it in public is like getting your household furniture out for a move. It did very well in its place, but it looks shabby or tawdry or grotesque in the sunshine.”

Well, I suppose that’s a fair point. I just thought it was a cute idea, but on the other hand, I guess I would agree that a marriage proposal is the sort of thing that should be private.

    Still, fun to watch!

    I smiled the whole time.
It could have used a bit of editing, sure, but what’s so bad about it?
It wasn’t THAT hokey. It was sweet.

I loved it! I think certain personalities would be mortified by such public displays, but some women would feel so special! (I’m one of them, and I love that my husband does huge creative stuff like this)

I thought it was definitely cool and memorable. However the proposal happens, it means a lot to those two people who are committing to love one another for the rest of their lives through significant trials and joys. In other words, that was the easy part (none the less an important part).
My wife accidentally found her engagement ring and I proposed right their on the spot. We were both very surprised!
Their are many things concerning real romance and devotion that Hollywood will never know anything about (and in these things Christians should make Hollywood jealous).
I pray these two will have a platform to display Christ’s love for the Church and the Church’s love for Christ in the coming years and hopefully through many other creative videos that go viral.

It was nice to see a young man ask a father for his daughter’s hand in marriage. That type of respect is often seen as archaic in this day & age.

I also agree that sometimes big displays of your love’s affection for you makes a woman feel special. Many men have no problem jumping & shouting to express their love for a sports team, why not applaud those who are willing to make a big production out of their love for their intended wife, or Christ, for that matter?

The involvement of the girl’s father in Matt’s awesome marriage proposal solidly the moving part of this. A father’s blessing is priceless, and yes, a lot of respect right there. There are several aspects to look into in this video, not just the romantic and cute part.
