D. A. Carson Conference on Gender

D. A. Carson will be speaking at a half-day conference on gender just before the Desiring God Pastor’s Conference this February. Here’s the announcement from CBMW:

CBMW and the Fidelis Foundation are pleased to announce a half-day conference on gender with Dr. D.A. Carson. Different by Design 2009: A Crucial Call to Faithfulness on Gender Issues will be held at the Minneapolis Hilton in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 2nd, 2009, just prior to the start of the Desiring God Pastor’s Conference. The schedule will begin at 1:00pm and conclude by 4:30pm.

Dr. Carson has been Research Professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois since 1978 and holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge. He will speak in two sessions. The first is entitled: “The Flow of Thought in I Timothy 2” and the second: “Is the Culture Shaping Us or are We Shaping the Culture?”

To the task of understanding I Timothy 2, Dr. Carson brings impeccable care and skill as an exegete of Scripture and Christian theologian. He also has done a fair bit of writing on the way the Christian church interacts with the culture in modern-day America. You may be interested in his books on the subject which include: The Gagging of God (1996) and Christ and Culture Revisited (2008).

Seating is limited for this event and the deadline for registration is January 26th, 2009. We encourage you to register now. The cost for the afternoon’s event is $20.00.

Please be in prayer for Dr. Carson and for all those who will attend the event.  Further, pray for the churches and ministries the attendees represent – that a biblical view of manhood and womanhood would be proclaimed, loved and lived by all to the glory of God.

We look forward to seeing you there, Lord-willing.
