    Top 10 YouTubes of 2009

It’s time for my annual posting of the Top 10 YouTube Videos of the Year (see last year’s list here). This ranking is totally unscientific. Only one person was polled to compile this list–yours truly. Except for the John Piper video at the end, the videos are all humorous this time. If you think I’ve left something out, let me know. I’ll think about adding it to the “Honorable Mention” category. Here’s the count down from number 10 to the number 1 video of 2009.

    Christmas and Easter Christians

Here’s an important report on Christians who only attend church at Christmas and Easter. Don’t miss this one. Here’s an excerpt: ‘The Burnett family and thousands of other Christmas-and-Easter — or C&E — Christians are gearing up for “the Season” which runs from roughly Thanksgiving to Easter. C&E Christians relish church holiday services, or feel duty bound to attend, but refuse to show up the rest of the year. But as churches grow more aggressive about courting new members, C&E Christians are devising more complex strategies for navigating their church visits.’ Read the rest here.

    Tim Hawkins Goes Political

Tim Hawkins has previously appeared on this blog in his hilarious videos “Cletus Take the Reel” and “Chick-fil-a.” Hawkins’ latest video, however, is certain to cause some controversy because it is decidedly political. Watch it above for yourself. If you have time, you should also watch the golden oldies below.

    Poseur Coffee Drinking

Owen Strachan’s bit on “poseur coffee drinking” is a hilarious and true must-read. He writes: What you find on many websites is some kind of description like this: “I love reformed theology, U2, anything by Steven Soderbergh, and a fresh cup of joe.”  Or maybe: “My interests are theology, issues of social justice, Beastie Boys, and an Americano from (fill in neighborhood coffee shop here).”  Or perhaps: “Can’t resist a good Bonhoeffer quotation, Edwardsean philosophy, and a venti mocha with light whip.”

    My Stupid Human Trick Revealed

Last week I wrote about a stupid human trick that caught the attention of the David Letterman program while I was in New York. I didn’t reveal what the trick was in that post, but a lot of readers have been asking me nevertheless. I feel compelled, therefore, to reveal it now. If any of you are interested in seeing a video of my trick on YouTube, then you should click here.

    The Wedding Dance

You know it’s a bona fide YouTube sensation when Matt and Meredith cover it on the “Today Show.” The interview above tells the story behind this spectacle and has excerpts from the original video. Below you can see where they recreated the dance for the “Today Show” this morning.

    Hammertime!

Here’s another post for the humor category. This video is a PR stunt to promote the A&E reality program “Hammertime.” What is perhaps even more entertaining than these dancers invading the department store is the fact that about 20 years ago I did a killer “running man” myself. I had some moves. Fortunately, no one has any video footage of that!
