Vice President Joe Biden made a poignant appearance on “The Late Show” last night. Biden and Colbert talked about the recent death of Biden’s son and Biden’s Roman Catholic faith. It is not surprising to hear Vice President Biden talk like this. It is surprising to see a late night show turn so serious. Most of the serious material appears in Part one above. Biden discusses how the death of his son is affecting his decision to run for president in part two below. You can read a summary of the interview here.

I am a Christian, but I don’t follow Christ
By now many of you have no doubt seen the viral video “I’m a Christian, but…” (click the image above to view it). Not only has the video been making the rounds, but the hashtag #IAmAChristianBut is ubiquitous on social media right now. After you watch the video, it’s obvious that this is a propaganda piece for a version of Christianity that is Christian in name only–a progressivist vision of the faith that has more to do with maintaining street-cred with Christianity’s cultured despisers than with the faith once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3). It is what the apostle Paul called a “form of godliness” while “denying…

Little Girl in trouble for bringing Wonder Woman lunchbox to school
Jonah Goldberg writes about a little girl who got in trouble with school authorities for bringing a Wonder Woman lunchbox to school (front and back pictured at right). Why the trouble? Because the school’s policy is that children may not wear clothes or carry gear with pictures of persons who use violence to solve problems. So Wonder Woman was ruled out of order. Jonah Goldberg’s commentary is spot-on. He writes: If you know anything about superheroes, the underlying morality is pretty much everything. Supervillains use their powers for evil ends. Superheroes use theirs to protect the vulnerable and uphold the good. Teaching kids that there’s no difference between the two…

Some fatherly advice for young men contemplating an affair
1 My son, give attention to my wisdom, Incline your ear to my understanding; 2 That you may observe discretion, And your lips may reserve knowledge. 3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, And smoother than oil is her speech; 4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of the grave. 6 She does not ponder the path of life; Her ways are unstable, she does not know it.

Reaping the whirlwind of sexual idolatry
Yesterday I read an article in Vanity Fair about how social media has transformed the hook-up culture of millennials. The article is titled “Tinder and the Dawn of the ‘Dating Apocalypse.'” It is so sexually provocative that I am not going to post a link to it. While Jesse Singal has questioned Vanity Fair‘s reporting and the central claims of the article, Rod Dreher and Carl Trueman have both written some helpful reflections taking the article at face value. I have to confess that I did not know how Tinder and similar apps have amplified the possibilities for promiscuity. This technology has put the hook-up culture on steroids. If the…

How Planned Parenthood’s defenders in the Senate are trying to distract you
I’ve been listening to the Senate debate about defunding Planned Parenthood. Two things stand out: (1) the moral clarity of Senators arguing to defund the nation’s largest abortion provider (2) and the inane, morally retrograde defense of Planned Parenthood offered by Senators on the other side. Let’s be clear what Senators defending Planned Parenthood are arguing. They do not dispute that Planned Parenthood crushes and dismembers babies in utero and that Planned Parenthood sells their mutilated bodies to researchers. If you are waiting for them to dispute those facts, don’t hold your breath. That much is not in dispute. Their argument boils down to this—a woman’s access to “affordable healthcare”…

Dear Senator, defund Planned Parenthood now
The fourth video exposing Planned Parenthood has just been released (watch above). It is hard to believe that the revelations could get any worse, but they do. In this video, you will witness Planned Parenthood doctors picking through the mangled remains of a human baby trying to find parts to sell. You will also hear Planned Parenthood abortionists say “It’s a baby” and “Another boy!” They know what they are doing. We know what they are doing. This is the face of evil, and it has to stop. If you haven’t done so already, it is time for you to act. You need to send an email or a letter…

What did you like to do for fun as a kid?
This video above is an ad that is a punch in the mouth. It is poignant and sad. I don’t have to explain the loss that it represents. It is plain for everyone to see and an occasion for us parents to be vigilant in the formation of our children. We only get one shot, and there are no dress rehearsals.

The shocked victims of their sex lives
Just three years after Roe v. Wade passed, feminist writer Linda Bird Francke wrote about her abortion experience. Her story originally appeared under the pseudonym “Jane Doe” in The New York Times but was later published in a book of essays under her own name. Her experience and feelings afterward are still so very common today. In her own words:

Culpable Ignorance: You have no excuse for not knowing what abortion is.
The third video exposing Planned Parenthood was just released today (see below). It is the worst one yet as it depicts the actual carnage of abortion. It is difficult to watch, but everyone who supports the legality of this barbarism is morally obligated to watch it. It is clearly a human being that has been torn apart and killed in utero. If you did not know that before, you will know after seeing this video. The images don’t lie. If you support this kind of thing being legal and don’t watch the video, your ignorance of the horror will not absolve your indifference. One of Jesus’ last utterances from the…
