It was a good night for college football in the Bayou State. My Louisiana Tech Bulldogs beat Ole Miss in Oxford to improve to 6-4 on the season and to become bowl eligible. Ole Miss is in the doldrums this year, but it is still nice to see the Dawgs get a win over an SEC opponent. The Bulldogs are number 2 in the WAC right now. We face the number one team, Nevada, next Saturday in Reno. It will be a big game, and I’m confident that the Bulldogs can pull out the win. We have not won the WAC since our first year in the conference in 2001.
Two more unbeatens go by the wayside tonight and so do their dreams of competing for a national title. Boise State lost to TCU, and Stanford lost to Oregon. That leaves one more unbeaten team that needs to lose in order to pave the way for an LSU-Alabama rematch. That school is Oklahoma State. The final hurdle on Oklahoma State’s schedule is Oklahoma, and State has the ability to win that game. Since Texas Tech beat Oklahoma in Oklahoma and since Oklahoma States shellacked Texas Tech tonight (66-6), I am picking Oklahoma State to win out.
After a sluggish start, LSU rolled over Western Kentucky and are 10-0 for the first time since their 1958 championship season. They control their own destiny to the SEC and BCS championship games. Arkansas will be a tough contest, and so will the SEC championship if they have to play Georgia. Nevertheless, the path is clear, and I think the Tigers can get there. Stay tuned, sports fans!

Denny,
Curious about your thoughts.
Bama and Oregon both have 1 loss, to LSU. Bama lost by 3 and Oregon by 13.
Bama lost at home. Oregon lost on a “neutral site” that was pretty much a home game in Dallas for LSU.
Oregon just smoked a top 5 opponent on the road. Alabama’s best win will be at home against Arkansas.
Oregon will also have a conference championship to it’s name.
At the very least, SEC fans have to admit that Oregon at least has an equal argument for a rematch with LSU, if not more of one.

I think they definitely have a legitimate argument. I still believe, however, that Alabama is the second best team.

Arkansas maybe. Georgia, not a problem for LSU.
