Gerson on McCain’s “Incompetence”

Michael Gerson argued yesterday that the McCain campaign has been overcome by history. One line sums up the situation as good as anything I’ve seen:

“While America remains a center-right country, this may well be a Marxist election in which economic realities are determining the political superstructure.”

“While America remains a center-right country, this may well be a Marxist election in which economic realities are determining the political superstructure.”

I am sure that it was a marxist election too, in 1980, when economic realities were then also determining the political superstructure.

Battle on the issues all you want, but when it comes down to all of the garbage the right wing has been throwing out there in the past couple of weeks, it just shows how pathetic and desperate the Republicans and their hangers on really are.
