You don’t see this much anymore, but what this drummer is doing used to be pretty big with the 80′s hair bands. This guy, however, has hair like Jerry Lee Lewis, and he kind of dresses like him too. File this one under “vintage spectacle.” It’s a classic.
Lakers Championship Parade
I don’t know what it is about this guy, but he slays me. This guy interviews people who have gathered to watch the Laker’s championship parade. He’s done it for the last two championships, and it’s like a cross between Marv Albert and Napoleon Dynamite. The video from this year’s parade is above. Last year’s is below. They’re both funny, but I still think the one below is the most entertaining.

Dad Life
This is kind of like “Swagger Wagon” redux with a focus on dad. I like the guy on the John Deere. He’s hard.

Acts29 Rap at SBC
A bit of comic relief followed the long and arduous session debating the GCR Task Force Report at the Southern Baptist Convention. Many of the messengers were leaving the hall when this happened, but I was there and heard the whole thing. An SBC messenger came to a microphone and offered a motion to affirm the Acts29 church planting network. But this wasn’t just any motion. This guy offered it in the form of a rap. After he finished making the motion, the chair called for a second, and the place erupted with seconds. I think everyone appreciated the light moment. The motion was subsequently ruled out of order.
UPDATE: The rapper is Josh Shank, pastor of Youngstown Metro Church in Youngstown, Ohio. Twitter: @JoshShank.
UPDATE 2: Parliamentarian Barry McCarty took it all in stride, writing to Josh Shank, “Loved your motion rap. Best presentation of a motion I’ve seen in 24 years as chief parliamentarian.” I guess Shank made some history. Continue Reading →

Ode to Grudem…sort of
This video tribute to Wayne Grudem’s systematic theology text was produced by some college students in the U.K. My favorite part is the dance move from “Thriller” near the end.
For those of you who haven’t heard of Wayne Grudem, he is the author of what is one of the most widely-read evangelical systematic theology texts in the world. At 1,291 pages, it is no small book, and that is in part what these students are lampooning. Nevertheless, it’s a classic, and if you don’t own it you should buy a copy now and read it.

Tim Challies Embraces the Greatest Disappointment in All of Human History
When the iPad first came out, Tim Challies gave it a scathing review, calling it “the greatest disappointment in all of human history.” Well, that was then, and this is now. In that earlier review, Challies said that the Kindle did one thing, and it did it better than the iPad. In his latest review, he compares the Kindle with the iPad and says that he will be using the iPad from now on to read books. I think his change of heart is due in no small part to the Kindle for iPad app. Watch the video above, and see if you are ready to drink the Kool-aid too. I think I am.
You’re the man, Tim!

Lampooning Emergents
Ted Kluck is one of the most hilarious guys on the planet. He has a piece on his blog lampooning an emerging website that is laugh-out-loud funny (HT: Kevin DeYoung). He writes:
“I have tried my best, at times, to satirize the late, great Emergent Church movment, and I have to admit all of my efforts pale in comparison to this website, which is completely serious.”

At the Lakers Parade
This video definitely would have made my 2009 Top 10 YouTube list if I had known about it. The video captures a “reporter” interviewing fans at the victory parade for the 2009 NBA Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s Napoleon Dynamite meets “Boom Goes the Dynamite.” This guy is hilarious.
