Donald Trump released a statement today reversing his view that the United States military should target and kill innocent women and children who are suspected of being related to terrorists. When pressed on how he would get military commanders to carry out unlawful orders, Trump said he would force them to obey what he says. That was what he said in last night’s infamous debate.
Today, he has released a statement taking the opposite position:
I feel very, very strongly about the need to attack and kill those terrorists who attack and kill our people. I know people who died on 9/11. I will never forget those events. I will use every legal power that I have to stop these terrorist enemies. I do, however, understand that the United States is bound by laws and treaties and I will not order our military or other officials to violate those laws and will seek their advice on such matters. I will not order a military officer to disobey the law. It is clear that as President I will be bound by laws just like all Americans and I will meet those responsibilities.
I guess Trump thinks after months of advocating war crimes, it’s all okay now because of this statement. This is absurd. This is a man who will say or do anything to get elected. He has no core priniciples or discernable political philosophy. He has proven himself to be a pathological liar. And it is asinine to think that he can erase months of war crime advocacy with a press release.
I think most sane people will understand that he has already disqualified himself. And there are no amount of press releases that can expunge his racist, war-mongering demogoguery.

Sometimes the truth hurts, but at some point in life we all must face it. The good the bad and the ugly. After hearing himself speak, I believe trump feels asinine! GOD reins FOREVER!

Thanks for your stance. As one who also lived in LA for several years it hurts to see Trump win there. I can understand why some who have been betrayed by the Republican establishment (repeatedly) would gravitate toward Trump. But it is hard to understand why (supposed) Christ-following, Bible-believing evangelicals support him. Believers ought to know that character in leaders matters to God.
In the words of the late Adrian Rogers in 1998:
“Suppose you were going to have open-heart surgery. Would you want the surgeon to come from the restroom and into the operating room without even washing his hands? Would you want him to hold your heart in his hands if they were not sanitary? I want the hands of those who hold the heart of this nation to be clean. Clean hands and a pure heart are necessary for godly leadership and godly leadership is a prerequisite to blessing.”

I really believe that whenever evil enters in, it is because persons have suffered a loss of love for others.
I think what our country is experiencing now is directly because of that very reason.

Hi BUDDY . . . someone needs to advise Cruz that his words about sand ‘glowing in the dark’ are code for use of nuclear weapons . . .
No one in their right mind in our country would advocate for this option, knowing that it would mean ‘oblivion’ for all of us, not just one target.
This game of ‘tough talk’ from candidates is without the tone of common sense or civility, and is unworthy of a Party that has a respected history.
Somewhere between the frightening loyalty ‘salute’ Trump demands of his supporters and the insanity of the ‘glowing sands’ remark of Cruz, I have come to realize that the Republican Party is now fielding candidates for high office who are causes of deep concern for all of us. It is now time to reconsider our own responsibility to our country to put a stop to this while we still can. We as a nation still hold the cards of who will receive the power to use the nuclear codes . . . let’s not mis-use that power, for the sake of our families, our country, and innocent people everywhere. We need to get a grip before it’s too late.
