Tiger Redemption

Last Saturday night I was driving I-10 from New Orleans to DeRidder, Louisiana. During my trip, I listened on the radio to LSU’s gut-wrenching loss to Ole Miss. The announcers didn’t do a good job describing the finish. All I could make-out was that the Tigers were about to score, mismanaged the clock, and lost the game. From fans to players to coaches, everyone was disgusted. How could the Tigers have blown that game? Much controversy followed all week long.

Who would have figured that exactly one week later the Tigers would have a chance to redeem themselves? With about a minute and a half to play, the Tigers had to drive the length of the field, manage the clock, and at least get a field goal. They did an impeccable job. It was clear that everyone had learned from their mistakes against Ole Miss. The Tigers end up winning in overtime, and all is well in Tiger-land. Geaux Tigers!

So what bowl will the Tigers go to? With this win, the Tigers finish the season at 9-3. With Ole Miss’s loss today, the Rebs finish at 8-4 and at a lower rank than LSU. I think, therefore, that the Tigers have a good chance of getting into the Capitol One Bowl. If that happens, then you can expect LSU to put a whoopin’ on some team from the Big 10. If LSU does not get into Capitol One, then they will likely go to the Cotton Bowl to face a Big 12 team. We’ll see how it all shakes out after next weekend.
