Just when I thought I’d seen everything, here comes the “Playful Puppies Bible.” From the publisher’s description:
If you love puppies, you will love this Bible! Inside you will find 12 color pages of adorable puppy photos with inspirational thoughts that will encourage you day after day. The Playful Puppies Bible is just the right size to take along wherever you go. Features include: * Presentation page for gift giving * Ribbon marker * Words of Christ in red * 12 pages of adorable puppy photos, Scripture references, and inspirational thoughts * The entire Bible in the New International Version (NIV)
Well don’t that just beat all? After all, who doesn’t like puppies?
UPDATE: I just learned that there’s a “Curious Kittens Bible” too! It would have been perrrfect if they would have spelled “curious” with a “k.”
Wait. Aren’t they the ones who grow up to be dogs who return to their vomit? Just sayin’
Maybe they are the little dogs that eat from their Master’s table?
Does this version signal the next step in the NIV’s declension? Having sipped the politically-driven Kool Aid of pluralizing singulars and otherwise neutering many texts, will the next NIV strike a blow against “speciesism”? Will John 3:16 become “whoever or whatever believes in Him or at least is a good doggie”?
I’m shocked at your response, Dan and Candice. You must really hate puppies. And if there’s one thing I can’t abide in my comments, it’s a bunch of puppy-haters! I thought I knew you.
I’m waiting for the Fanciful Ferret bible, myself.
Be comforted, little dog, thou too in the Resurrection shall have a tail of gold.
The dog is the most faithful of animals and would be much esteemed were it not so common. Our Lord God has made his greatest gift the commonest.
Lord, help me be the person my dog thinks I am.
( no idea )
I wonder if it was a bunch of playful puppies who licked up the blood of Ahab.
Don’t be a puppy-hater, bro!
That’s great, Denny! Now I know what to get your baby when he/she is born!
That reminded me of this:
Ok, ok Denny! I surrender! I’ll never read the 2011 NIV again! 🙂
Well, this isn’t the NIV’s fault!
There is only one thing worse–cats…NISM?
