No Pain, No Gain


Back when the earth’s crust was still hardening, I used to be a skateboarder. I can still remember the feeling of foreboding that I used to get before attempting a trick that I knew would probably hurt me. The greater the pit in my stomach, the more I knew I had to do it. Many painful, exhilarating moments ensued.

So videos like the ones you see above and below still catch my interest. The one above shows Adam Miller attempting and failing at a backflip from one skateboard to another. The one below shows him land the same stunt at a different location.

Moral of the story: When you see a skater doing an amazing stunt, keep in mind that it was preceded by many painful wipeouts that you didn’t see.
