I cannot say that I told you so. Because I didn’t. I really didn’t know who would win tonight’s game. You all know that I’m a big Tigers fan, but the analyst in me had a hard time picking a winner in advance. I thought that the teams were too evenly matched and that Alabama would probably have an edge because they were playing at home. But a lot of surprising things happened. No touchdowns, big turnovers, LSU holding Bama to under 100 yards rushing, and three missed field goals by Alabama. All of that added up to a close win for the Tigers. And it was a sweet victory.

Game 6 Wore Me Out
Some are already calling game 6 of the 2011 World Series the greatest World Series game ever played. That may be true, but it wore me out. I am a Rangers fan. Twice during last night’s game, we were one strike away from winning the franchise’s first ever championship. Twice! It was heartbreaking when what’s-his-name hit that last home run for St. Louis. I think I need to re-evalutate my priorities in life because I woke up this morning with a pit in my stomach about that game. I hope I’m wrong. I just had the sense that when we lost that game last night, we lost the series. I…

Why Is Tebow Hated So Much?
Tim Tebow has been the talk of the nation since he was announced as the new starting quarterback for the Denver, Broncos. As usual, Tebow has gotten a lot of love from his fans and a lot of grief from his detractors. Jelisa Castrodale has a story at NBC Sports today that reminds me of why it might be a good idea to pray for the guy. There are a lot of people out there pulling against Tebow, and I am not talking about football or the big game on Sunday. What I am talking about are the cynics out there who want Tebow not only to fail at football…

President Obama Welcomes the β85 Bears to the White House
This is probably my favorite moment of the Obama administration. Yesterday he welcomed the 1985 Chicago Bears to the White House for a belated celebration of their Superbowl victory 26 years ago. The Bears’ trip to the White House was cancelled 26 years ago because of the Challenger disaster, and it never got rescheduled. So President Obama made good on that one today.
