It looks like Texas A&M University is close to an agreement to bolt the Big 12 to enter the SEC. I don’t blame A&M for wanting to make the change. They need to blaze their own trail and to get out of the shadow of the Texas Longhorns. I think the Aggies have a great program, and the SEC will only elevate their prospects. The weekly competition will be more difficult than anything they’ve ever faced, but it will be a boon for the program. This news about A&M reminds me of the last time the Aggies travelled to Baton Rouge to play LSU. Their buses had almost reached the…

Chuckles with the Dalai Lama
In the video above, an Australian reporter gets a little bit cheeky with the Dalai Lama. For some reason, the reporter thought it would be a good idea to try out his best Dalai Lama joke on the man himself. “So the Dalai Lama walks into a pizza shop, and says, ‘can you make me one with everything?'” What can I say? It didn’t go over very well. See above.

Motivational Speaker Kid
Did you see the video of the little kid trying playing the part of the motivational speaker? He’s just learned how to ride a bike, and he wants to encourage all the other kids that they can do it too. This kid is more inspirational than Matt Foley living in the van down by the river. See for yourself above. Also, this kid was so good, someone rightly figured out that he needed a bigger stage. So watch him address the nation below. (HT: Abraham Piper)

Greatest Marriage Proposal Ever?
Matt Still has produced one of the most creative marriage proposals I have ever seen. It’s also the latest viral YouTube sensation making the rounds. He and his fiancée were interviewed on “The Today Show” this morning. You can watch the proposal above and then the interview below.

The First Female President
The following story comes from my Dad, and it is too good not to share—especially with all of you LSU fans out there. Enjoy! ———- The year is 2016 and the United States has just elected the first woman, a Louisiana State University graduate, as President of the United States, Susan Boudreaux. A few days after the election the president-elect calls her father and says, ‘So, Dad, I assume you will be coming to my inauguration?’

Thanks to Tim Challies for highlighting this video. It made me laugh out loud.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
The band “Mercy Me” has a running gag on their YouTube channel called “The Cover Tune Grab Bag,” in which they do fun covers of popular songs. Many of the videos look like they are shot backstage with the guys just goofing around. In any case, it’s pretty entertaining to see the band let their proverbial hair down. On Sunday, they posted what is probably my favorite video to date: a cover of the Beatles’ “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.” Watch above. If you want to see more, their YouTube channel is here.

Is your worship music too loud?
Someone dubbed in a real-life complaint about worship music into the Dora cartoon above (HT: Tim Challies). After watching the video, I was reminded of an article that John Stackhouse wrote for Christianity Today in 2009, “Memo to Worship Bands: Five sound reasons to lower the volume.” Stackhouse’s central concern is summed up in this sentence: “I find almost every worship band in every church I visit to be too loud—not just a little bit loud, but uncomfortably, even painfully, loud.” He then goes on to give five reasons why worship leaders should turn down the volume.

D.A. becomes an M.C.
Students of Boyce College, if you hear me yelling “Westside” randomly in the hallway, this post explains why. It’s my own jubilant tribute to some lyrical madness that Dr. D. A. Carson laid down on a track for Curtis “Voice” Allen. I don’t know how he did it, but somehow “Voice” got Dr. Carson’s voice in a rap about the Westminster Catechism. Dr. Carson’s big line is “Westside!” (which I suppose corresponds to “Westminster” somehow). Download here or listen below. [audio:http://sgm.edgeboss.net/download/sgm/cjblog/voice-westminster.mp3] Thanks to C. J. Mahaney for posting the audio. This is solid gold! (HT: Justin Taylor)
