Bizarre Clown Ministry

The video above is some kind of training video for a clown “ministry.” I have no doubt that these folks mean well, but this looks really awful to me. If I am ever in a nursing home, please don’t send a clown to visit me or any other kind of actor. Please send a real person with real words and real love and a real Bible. That will do.

The descriptor ‘non-verbal clowning’ and the sheer terror on the gentlemen’s face around the 2:13 mark were almost too much for me to handle.

I have to say, I have seen a bilingual clown named Chagy perform multiple times. He presents a very clear gospel message through his act and his clown stuff is an excellent way to get the attention of an audience of children. He even has a Masters Degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a focus on Missions!

Okay I had to come back to this. I kept giggling at the part where the guy says not to have all the clowns together because clowns all together like that can be scary (ROFLOL!) but to go in pairs, so I waited and lo and behold a pair of clowns come near one of the elderly and looked scared anyway! I am very ill and homebound (and young) with no visitors ’till yesterday. I think I would still turn down clown visitation though – just give me a godly woman who will read the Bible to me! No clownin’ around – give me Jesus! πŸ™‚
