An Easter pageant at a church in Canton, Ohio went horribly awry on Sunday when the paper mache tomb caught on fire during the finale. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but I’m pretty sure they made a memory. It’s remarkable that the singer never missed a note. The rest of it, you’ll just have to see for yourself above. Hmmm. still singing and not clearing the sanctuary…probably not the best decision ever made in the history of decisions.

Two things. Canton is my hometown, so I’d really enjoy knowing what church this is.
Second, the guy that takes the flaming bolder and leaps from the stage is an absolute boss.

I pastor an SBC church in Birmingham, Alabama, but the church in the video is the one I belonged to as a child and my parents are still members there: Canton (Ohio) First Church of the Nazarene. The guy who carried out the flaming stone was the pastor’s son (he is also the youth pastor). He received second degree burns, but still played drums later in the service. The pastor preached following the musical in the smoke-filled sanctuary and said he thought no one would ever forget this Easter musical. That’s for sure!
