Honest question – it seems a little patronizing for everyone to keep calling him the “next” president (as in nominations and votes at annual meetings don’t matter, it’s decided), so have I just missed that this decision has actually been made? I’ve been taking it to mean this is everyone’s sincere hope and expectation, but the accolade is so pervasive I began to question myself and can’t find any explanation for it.
