Tebow Time Is Old School

Tim Tebow should have won the Heisman this year. He is the best college football player in the NFL, and I mean that as a compliment. He just plays old school smashmouth football. His passing stats don’t match that of the prototypical NFL quarterback, but somehow he puts drives together when it counts. It’s really quite inexplicable except that the guy has a voracious will to win that spreads to every player on his team.

The win last week over the Chicago Bears was a fourth quarter comeback for the ages. The video above shows the whole thing up close from Tebow’s perspective. You’ll see the old school football I’m talking about. You’ll also hear some old school worship songs from Tebow’s lips. “Our God Is an Awesome God” and “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High” have to be at least 25 years old or more. Tebow is still singing them nevertheless!

I think the Broncos will have a tough time against the Patriots on Sunday. Realistically, I think that this is where the Bronco’s improbable winning streak will end. Tom Brady is likely to put 20 to 30 points on the board, and that kind of scoring will be difficult for the Broncos to keep up with. I say that hoping that Tebow might read what I’m writing. I think it will make him all the more determined to prove me wrong. I hope that he does!

Tebow may lose this weekend but as he plays this game of football , he reminds us how as Christians ,we should live out our vocations in this world for God’s glory. I hope he goes on to have a successful career . This young man is a breath of fresh air .

Every last bit of praise for the win last week over the Bears should go to the kicker and their defense. Tebow was a non-factor in that game.

Paul, look at Tebow’s passing percentage for the fourth quarter. You are wrong about that. He got them into scoring position when it counted.

do we have any info on what kind of Christian Tebow is? What denomination does he hail from etc?? Would be interesting to see where he comes from.

Yes. I think he’s Baptist. His sister and brother-in-law were members with us at the same church for a couple of years. The whole family is Baptist.

Tebow is the real deal. Good post. I love this guy. I look forward to the playoffs with the Broncos hopefully winning the West, and of course we shall win the East. And I would love to have a ticket for that AFC playoff game at Ravens Stadium.

Have a terrific Lord’s Day tomorrow, and a blessed, joyous Christmas my good brother, and my appreciated internet-pastor.

Matthew 1:21: “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
