poking fun at someone for writing an idiotic song is different than insulting him. I didn’t say that he was ugly, a bad human being or that he has bad taste in clothes.

  • Darius T

That’s why I didn’t say you were insulting him… please read my comment more closely next time. I said you were mocking him. And that your joke isn’t very funny.

That you dismiss LGF so flippantly shows your bias is blinding you. LGF serves a major and necessary purpose. LGF (or more precisely, Charles Johnson) was the place that figured out that the Bush “memos” were fake. LGF has routinely uncovered photoshopped pictures from Reuters. LGF is primarily a news site (with limited editorial commenting), one that uncovers news that the mainstream media won’t mention. You can’t be taken seriously as anything other than a partisan hack when you attack a site like LGF.

Here’s an intellectual honesty challenge for you, Paul, if you’re up for it. Please go on LGF and return here (or my blog) and let me know which LGF posts are bogus (besides Johnson’s recent rabbit trail into evolution vs. creationism, which ironically enough is probably the LGF posts you most agree with). Slandering a website without evidence is cowardly and shows either intellectual dishonesty or ignorance (probably a little bit of both in your case). But here is a chance to prove your words aren’t just empty rhetoric.

    Darius,

the constant anti-arab sentiment to be found throughout LGF’s choice in which articles to link to is disgusting.

Find me any website, left or right, and they’ll get it correct and straight down the middle at least SOME of the time. After all, even a stopped clock is right twice per day.

And Darius, you are the last person EVER to EVER get to call someone else a partisan hack.

Hilarious. Man, they had me on the Air Supply. I am a little embarassed to say that when I turn on my iPod, that’s the first artist listed.

Johnny and Chachi are hilarious and clever, and creative.

  • Paul

And being kind to your fellow brothers in Christ is never yours, Darius.

Your “challenge” is a trap, and you know it.

A site like that can post 100% “true” articles, but the choice in articles shows its bias. To say that LGF (and especially its readers) don’t swing way to the right is to be the very picture of intellectual dishonesty that you claim everyone on the left is.

  • Darius T

So what’s the problem exactly if what LGF posts is true? Do you hate truth or something if it goes against your preconceived notions of the world? Or does any group or website that focuses on one particular issue mean it’s illegitimate? If that’s your argument, then your own myspace page is wrong since it focuses entirely on your band stuff. Or, by your tortured reasoning, this site by Denny shouldn’t be taken seriously since he generally posts on few specific topics, all from a conservative Christian point of view. And yet, you continue to read it…

Your logic is really weak, and your argument is basically an ad hominem attack.

  • Paul

    Darius,

    Wow, dude. You’re delusional.

First off, my myspace page is an ADVERTISEMENT for my band.

Denny’s site is a blog that focuses on a well thought out take on conservative Christianity. That he also sullies himself by nuzzling up to Republicans is sad, but expected.

LGF, on the other hand, likes to be a news/conservative blog. So far so good. But when that turns into a site which caters to borderline racism in its excessive reliance on ethnocentric post picking, THAT’S when I get concerned. I’ve seen the results of some idiot reading a site like that and then acting like the fool that he is up close. You probably haven’t. And until you have, you have NO place telling me that I should respect some punk’s point of view.

(I know how much everyone hates personal experience stories around here, so I’ll leave mine out this time)

Now, I’m not saying that the stories posted in LGF are wrong. But the ethnocentrism which it helps to breed is entirely wrong. Especially because ethnocentrism in America can’t even tell the difference between North African Jews, Indians, Sikhs and Muslims.
And the people that support a site like that in any way are doubly wrong. Especially those that are smart enough to be engineers.

  • Darius T

So any Bible verses that speak against homosexuality should not be printed because some Fred Phelps-wannabes could use them to support their hate?

If the mainstream media bothered to tell the other side of the story in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, then LGF wouldn’t be necessary. If the MSM bothered to tell the WHOLE story in Iraq, then LGF wouldn’t be necessary. If the MSM bothered to even mention CAIR’s ties to terrorism, then LGF wouldn’t be necessary. If the MSM bothered to be unbiased and politically incorrect in its coverage of all things Islam (especially radical Islam), then LGF wouldn’t be necessary. Sadly, the MSM doesn’t do any of the above, so LGF is more than necessary, it is indispensable.

  • Paul

    Darius,

how funny you bring up Phelps. LGF is essentially analogous to his church. And you see essentially the same results.

Sure, the local muslim deli might not get picketed with signs that say “God Hates Towelheads” but instead, all you have to do is read the comments section to get roughly the same stuff.

And I love the constant bashing of the MSM, especially in this case. How many watchers of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Fox or MSNBC are coming away from international newscasts saying that Israel needs to do major land concessions NOW? Oh, practically none. As a matter of fact, even the most liberal democrats in the senate still have to cozy up to the Israeli lobby (and I, for one, am glad that they do).

And insofar as CAIR goes, I agree, they’re terrible people that use circular logic to make their little world go round. All LGF does is legitimize their existence by letting them prove that there’s a faction of Americans that just don’t like brown people.

  • Darius T

Actually, LGF’s comment section is very civil compared to the leftist sites like DailyKos. Charles Johnson makes a point of calling his readers to civil discourse.

“All LGF does is legitimize their existence by letting them prove that there’s a faction of Americans that just don’t like brown people.”

    Your ignorance is amazing.

  • Paul

    Darius,

once again, your lack of love for your fellow Christians is amazing as well.

You’re right that from what I’ve seen, Johnson’s better than most. But I’ve still seen some real “winners” in the comments section (maybe I’ve just been lucky enough to see what happens between moderation sessions).

Face it, what LGF does is take ignorant ethnocentrists and give them ammo. That you link to that site speaks volumes about the lack of love in your soul for your fellow human beings.

  • Paul

At least you’ve finally admitted it.

I’ve never seen you utter one kind word towards me or any other liberal that comments here.

I’ve never once seen you acknowledge that a liberal CAN be right about something.

I’ve never once seen you at all act with anything other than malice towards someone that doesn’t agree with you.

So, now, no matter how sarcastic you’re being, you’ve at least admitted what I’ve known about you all along.

  • Darius T

“I’ve never seen you utter one kind word towards me or any other liberal that comments here.”

    Hyperbole, thy name is Paul.

I act with malice toward lies, bad ideas, and intellectually dishonest talking points.

  • Paul

    Darius,

you are correct. We have agreed. However, those moments that we’ve agreed have been the only times that you’ve even come close to being cordial. Face it, you’re just not friendly or nice. At least not online.
