Steven Spielberg To Direct Movie about Abraham Lincoln

I just read today that Steven Spielberg is filming a movie based on the life of Abraham Lincoln. The movie is set to be released after the 2012 presidential election, so there’s plenty of time for you to read the 944 pages of the book that it is based on—Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.

Daniel Day Lewis has been selected to play the part of Lincoln, and Sally Field will play Mary Todd. The mash-up to the right shows the uncanny resemblance of Daniel Day Lewis to President Lincoln. Spielberg has the Midas touch when it comes to movies, and I can’t wait to see this one.

Speaking of Spielberg, he has another movie coming out this December that is set during World War I. It’s called “War Horse,” and the trailer is really well done. Watch it below.

It will be hard to watch ‘War Horse’ . . . my niece is in Afghanistan as a nurse in a forward operating post . . . what she is seeing among our wounded men has caused her to cry out to us for prayers for them, for their families, and for the ones who still face danger.

It is affecting her, the sadness. I pray for those she asks me to pray for.
And I pray for her, that the sadness not be overwhelming. She’s seen a lot. She was on board the ‘Comfort’ when it sailed to Haiti. She served in Iraq for a year.

    But this time . . .
this time is different for her . . .
I think of my niece as one of our ‘war angels’, a beautiful child of light with gifts of healing in her hands and prayers in her heart.

I will watch ‘War Horse’, but it will be hard for me.
