President Obama Reads Psalm 46 at Ground Zero

President Obama read from the New King James Version of Psalm 46 today at the 9/11 Memorial earlier today.

1 God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear,

Even though the earth be removed,

And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,

Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,

The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;

God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;

He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

7 The LORD of hosts is with us;

The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

8 Come, behold the works of the LORD,

Who has made desolations in the earth.

9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;

He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;

He burns the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth!

11 The LORD of hosts is with us;

The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

    The President recited that verse because it appeals to Christians, Muslims and Jews. Psalms is one book of the Bible that Muslims accept. The President is taking advantage of the naïveté of most Americans and people around the world. He wants people in each religion to feel like he is reaching out to them and their respective religions.

    So, the President reads from scripture and this is the response. The man is president and is due our respect. We don’t have to agree with him – i usually don’t, but I do give him credit for reading the passage verbatim.

    Be mad at him for his policies, disagree all you want, but don’t let your personal dislike for him keep you from respecting him, especially when he does the right thing – which he did in this case

      That’s just pathetic. This is an evil person who wants to destroy our country, and we’re supposed to be so impressed because he read an unabridged passage of Scripture on the anniversary of a national atrocity, which is the kind of thing anybody in his position would be expected to do as a matter of course? Please. He will only win my respect when he repents in sackcloth and ashes for, among other things, the abortions that have been directly facilitated by his actions.

    President Obama can do nothing right when it comes to some people.

    I’ve never seen people hate one man so much and at the same time profess to be “Christians.”.

    If we prayed for our President as much as we criticized him, what effect might that have? Such a thing is Biblical (1 Timothy 2:1-2), whereas the vitriol and hatred leveled against him is not. I am not saying vote for him and I am not saying support his policies. I am saying invest time in prayer specifically for him as the leader of our nation.

      I’ve prayed for him. I’ve prayed that he will hear screams in the night and repent. As God is my witness, that is truly the best thing anybody could wish for him—the salvation of his immortal soul.
