Johnny and Chachi (founders of Get in Here Ministries) are back, and they have some “Killer Prayer Tips” to help improve your prayer life. My favorite is the advice about “unspoken” prayer requests. Very helpful.

Denny,
I injured myself in the miracle position. I’m holding you responsible.
Good times.
Patrick
LOL Don’t interlink fingers and give a handsqueeze.
The “prayer positions” is a hilarious dig at certain Emergent churches.
Denny,
Thanks for the post… I’m glad the unspoken prayer was helpful for you… that blesses us beyond believe.
#2 on the list of ‘that blesses us beyond believe’ is the picture of you on a skateboard (right before you crashed).
I found the video pretty funny.
1. When praying/meditating, it CAN help to have your feet square and back straight. So a prayer position is not totally bogus.
2. I LIKE the hand squeeze at the end of holding hands when praying.
Darius and I agree on precious few things.
But the prayer position bit is one of them. Especially since I do yoga on a fairly regular basis. Doxa Soma, Praise Moves and other like minded attempts at merging yoga with meditation and prayer are ridiculous. Any time someone wants to give that certain balloon a good poke with a needle, I am all for it.
oh man, I got moderated for saying I agree with Darius.
Stick to what you’re good at, Paul.
Man, every time these guys post a video it’s hilarious. Wow. On a side note, I have actually counted how many “Father”s and “Lord”s and/or “God”s have been used in certain folks’ prayers before. That one is dead on.
I, too, like the hand squeeze.
Call it a superstition or something, but I am guilty of the “Father God” thing myself, if for no other reason that I want to remind myself of the WHO and WHAT I am praying to. Whatever little gods I might have in my life, and however much help I need in destroying them, I’m still focusing on GOD. Not little gods like gigs or money or proper percussion technique, but GOD. FATHER GOD. HEAVENLY FATHER, etc, etc, etc.
I bet you anything this gets moderated because it’s a reasonable post.
I like Reasonable Paul.
Great post Denny. Though not a big “Father God” guy (in the prayer not theological sense), I have witnessed its use on several occasions, and it is impressive.
Anway, I just happened upon your blog and am definetly subscribing. If you have the time, you can check out my blog, Imago Christi
I have found that unspoken requests my result in disharmony. The other day, I told my wife I had a major prayer request. She asked what it was and I told her “unspoken.” 1 out of 2 of us found that hilarious.
Ditto what Barry said.
