No better time to donate to CBMW than right now!

The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW) is an evangelical organization that produces resources and conferences that advance a biblical view of gender and sexuality. Since its founding by John Piper, Wayne Grudem, et al., CBMW has been doing great work providing resources about what the Bible actually teaches about these things. Countless pastors and laymen have been helped by The Danvers Statement, Recovering Biblical Manhood & Womanhood, JBMW, and a host of other items. Many of these resources are already available for free on CBMW’s website, and we are working to add more.

In order to make these resources available for free, we rely on the generosity of donors. That’s where you come in. Earlier today, executive director Owen Strachan announced a $30,000 matching donation drive. Here’s the gist of it.

A generous donor has offered to match all donations over the next month up to an amount of $30,000. For one month, starting today and ending on June 30, 2013, we’re seeking donations from friends, churches, and organizations that have benefited from CBMW’s ministry. We are hoping and praying that you might consider partnering with us. If you can give right now, this is the place to go: the CBMW donation page on our website, which is super-easy to use and secured by Simple Donation.

Thank you for your support!

I think that your average evangelical would have a much easier time identifying with liberal definition of marriage, where marriage is about personal pursuit of happiness, than it would with the Biblical definition of marriage, which forbids divorce and remarriage under 99.999+% of circumstances.

Balderdash, you are seriously misreading Scripture by taking it out of context. If you want to learn how, see David Instone-Brewer’s books on divorce and remarriage.

Yes, scripture is very vague on the matters of divorce and remarriage. Even though Jesus directly talks about divorce being forbidden, and remarriage forcing someone to commit adultery, one really need elegant and learned theologians to explain how what Jesus really means here is that people on their second, third, and fourth marriages are just fine, given the proper context of the verse.

Yes, Christians for Biblical Equality was born, to a certain extent, out of the need to help women who get beat up obeying their Christian husbands. I remember being at one of the early meetings. It was the first time I had heard this matter being discussed by Christians. CBMW may also now discuss it, but some of us lived 30 years of hell. Some compensation for this terrible experience would be nice but quite unlikely.

Thanks for the tip. Something I find fascinating: whereas the CBMW is largely Reformed, the list of endorsers of the CBE seems to skew Wesleyan. The only obviously Reformed name I could find is Roger Nicole. It seems strange to me that the CBMW should be so Reformed-heavy given the many non-Reformed folks who are nevertheless theologically (and culturally) conservative and who embrace the complementarian view.
