Yesterday, NARAL president Ilyse Hogue told the Democratic Convention that she had an abortion. You can watch her remarks above, but here’s what she said:
…when I found out I was pregnant years ago. I wanted a family, but it was the wrong time. I made the decision that was best for me — to have an abortion and get compassionate care at a clinic in my own community. Now, years later, my husband and I are parents to two incredible children.
After she said that she had an abortion, delegates applauded. They applauded.
The Democratic platform supports the regime of Roe v. Wade, which means that the party believes that it should be legal to take the life of an unborn child at any stage of pregnancy from 0-9 months. About one million unborn children are killed by abortion every year in the United States alone. Since 1973, nearly 60 million unborn children have been killed legally in our country. That is the holocaust times ten.
Abortion-on-demand is the greatest human rights crisis of our time. And this party applauds a testimonial of participation in our great national shame.
Have mercy.

“I made the decision that was best for me ”
So you didn’t have a conversation with your husband?
Core of our human nature is being selfish. No further proof needed than what was shown here.

Roe v Wade and also Doe v Bolton, don’t forget! Roe v Wade for medical reasons, Doe v Bolton for mental health or well-being as a medical reason. Decision given by Supreme Court at the same time.

Applause is a little less credible given the notion that some in attendance were paid $50 to be there and applause. See the article in Snopes.com…

I don’t believe snopes. The person running snopes has a left leaning bias so who checks the snopes stuff out?
Matt Martin
Actually Snopes is run by David Mikkelson, who was a registered Republican in 2000, but with no party affiliation since 2008.They’re one of the more respectable ones out there. And if you immediately write them off then…well, enough said.

It may be slightly more complicated than that. My take was that they were cheering the presence of an abortion clinic locally, not the abortion itself. The applause was too delayed to be cheering the abortion itself, I thought. That is, I sensed that she and the crowd were riffing off the Whole Woman’s Health decision, which struck down a law that the plaintiffs argued had shut down a number of abortion clinics, leaving women without local abortion options. If that was the case, it’s a proxy for applauding the decision, not applauding her abortion, per se.

Not to say that left-leaning people aren’t cheering abortion on nowadays, with eyes wide open.

Denny, what do you think is a best case scenario regarding abortion? Roe V Wade overturned, states decide, woman and doctors who attempt in illegal states jailed?
Kathleen McNeal
Quite a stretch to claim that they were cheering the abortion, per se. The applause clearly comes at the end of the sentence when she’s talking about health service access right in her own community — a counterpoint to unconstitutional laws like the one in Texas that would have forced most women to drive hundreds of miles to find a provider.

Denny,
What say you about Grudem?
