Why? Not because of the number killed (we often measure tragedy by numbers, don't we?), but because, if anything fits the description of "hate crime," surely this does. And with all of our attention on hate-crimes within our borders, why should such concern not also go out to the world, unless, of course, we're only concerned with ourselves.
