CT Covers Piper vs. Wright

Trevin Wax has compiled a helpful piece for Christianity Today in which he sets in parallel the contrasting views of John Piper and N. T. Wright on the topic of justification. There is an HTML version that you can read, or you can download a PDF of the article as it appeared on the pages of CT.

I think Wright’s thinking on this is more accurate in the sense of being closer to what Paul meant in the 1st century.

I think they’re both right, and this whole disagreement is dumb (or at least overblown).

They both can’t be right because they disagree on some important issues. What is up with David Swanson? Piper was entirely cordial and humble in dealing with Wright.

“David Swanson says Piper and
his supporters have come across as “less generous and humble than
I’d hope. On an emotional level, this makes Wright’s view more
intriguing. But I’ve tried not to dismiss the traditional Reformed
view of justification out of hand because of the rhetoric.””
